Improved Power and Economy with Water Injection
Turbocharged engines have made their presence felt in the automotive market, especially over the past decade. Bosch recently introduced a new and improved version of the compact turbocharged engine, which incorporates water injection technology into the mix. These alterations have led to better fuel efficiency and more power. The use of water injection allows for lower combustion temperatures within the engine. Less CO2 is produced using this technology, and fuel savings could reach up to 13%. An added bonus is that water injection can expect a 5 percent boost in horsepower without any displacement increase. Read more.
Bosch has pioneered this technology and is making it available to the top world's manufacturers. It is still a work in progress, but the benefits of using water injection engines present designers and manufacturers with a myriad of new possibilities. Safety certification can be achieved through submission to a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory. Product Safety Consulting has been helping clients achieve safety approval for more than 28 years and are more than able to tackle this new technology.
